"Moments pass by, but art is forever"
A cold afternoon at sunset, on January 11th, 2024, in Budapest, Hungary, this aspiring crew of artists created the moment to last forever. I am inspired to share this moment I witnessed with artist, Sierra Raine, and filmmaker, Mokhles Zouak. As bystanders pass, capturing a digital photograph of the glorious sunset over the Liberty Bridge, artist Raine sat on the cold January cement painting the moment in real time as it changed over the course of an hour and a half.
The magic within the painting is visualizing the collective moments that allowed it to include vibrant colors of the sunset and the darkness of the water at the same time. This is the choice of painter artist Raine seeing by the end of the painting session how dark the night became within those last 10 minutes transitioning from sunset to dusk. Raine quotes, 'this is the vision and the process of dusk happening in real time. And it is the Liberty Bridge.'
There is no shame in any form of art and that is the beauty of capturing a surreal moment.
Through film, paint, photography, writing, and so much more. Don't be afraid to allow an art form to capture the moment along with you.
Looking back at filmmaker Zouak's directing of the moment, he embraced showcasing the artist's concentration of her work through composed shots: such as the look in her eye and how her brushstrokes on the canvas. The natural sounds of Budapest allow the viewer to feel as if they were there: including the trams, Danube River, and organic conversations that occurred. The beauty of what an artist is capable of is transformed through the filmmaker's eye of capturing the moment.
Thank you for looking more into this project. I can't wait to share more like this in the future!
Signed,
Writing Raine
